PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Welcome to the Conklin Davis Artists Residence Group! Our talented artists have been hard at work creating stunning artwork not only to be seen but also to be touched. You'll find our three-dimensional, tactile paintings adorning the walls of the hallway to the left of the lobby as you enter the building. Additionally, the corridor straight ahead from the lobby showcases paintings available for purchase, with some offering textures for added sensory experience.

Supporting our artists means supporting Conklin Davis Center too, as they generously donate half or more of their proceeds to our cause. Our group, known as EMMA (Experimental Mixed Media Artists), originated from a class taught by Gail Bokor at the Art League of Daytona Beach. Together, we embarked on a year-long journey to create an art exhibit specifically designed for the blind and visually impaired.

In March 2017, our TOUCH OF ART exhibit was a resounding success at the Rose Room Gallery in the Peabody Auditorium, with numerous paintings sold to both sighted and visually impaired art enthusiasts. Fast forward to January 2021, when Ronee Davis, CEO and President of Conklin Davis Center, invited us to establish an art program within the center. With her support, we now have a dedicated studio space where our creativity flourishes.

As our group grew, so did our aspirations. We're thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of our Gift Shop, featuring a curated selection of paintings, jewelry, and boutique gifts, all crafted with love by our artists. Managed by the residents themselves, this space will serve as a vibrant hub of creativity and community.
